Hello friends!
I hope you are enjoying the summer months, longer days, fresh veggies and family dinners outdoors. I've put in a lot of hours between the farm, AirBnB rentals, retailing Bison, building the ranch website, navigating social and wait….. A scientific abstract I penned on behalf of our heart service line. I am excited to announce that it was accepted for a podium presentation in Nashville mid September! Most importantly, the boys are back in school and they are thriving.
Last weekend, I was reminded of our need to support and be supported. While in Bailey’s stable, I found this little critter. He needed some assistance getting back to wet ground. I picked him up and moved him out of Bailey's stable where he would be safe.

This sighting of this salamander reminded me of an exceptional read, Braiding Sweetgrass Indigenous Wisdom, Scientific Knowledge and Teaching of Plants by Robin Wall Kimmerer.
Professor Kimmerer eloquently weaves the art of the natural world with the scientific evidence of modern society. In one chapter, she details activists physically moving salamanders across a highway during migration to avoid destruction. Like the salamanders, I believe at times we all need a little help getting to stable ground. This is the mantra of Fire Mtn Ranch. Collectively, the Bison are facilitating equanimity, moving our community towards the calm. And with the help of others, bringing our communities and environment back to stability.
Much like the activism behind salamanders, our family intends to honor the spirit of the American Bison in providing the animals stable ground to thrive. We know that in return, this energy will reciprocate to ourselves, to our family and to our community.
Cheers to being lifted to higher grounds.
